Pool Conditions
The pool opened last weekend, we open it a week early to make sure any issues are addressed before Memorial Day. This past weekend the water was warm but the pool was bit cloudy, the cloudiness was caused by the product applied during the resurfacing. The water was perfectly safe but less than visually pleasing. Our new pool service was called and they working on remedying the situation. We have been assured the pool will be clear and in tip top shape for the Memorial Day weekend. We will keep an eye on the pool and our service company will be contacted immediately if the pool is suboptimal. Please let us know what you think of the surface and the overall condition of the pool. Thanks as always for your cooperation.

Meeting Reminder this Saturday
The Island Gate community meeting is scheduled for May 23rd at 10:30 am. It will be held at the Stafford Town Hall on Bay avenue. It is by the police station. There has been some confusion about the location in the past, if you have any questions about the location of the meeting just reply to a board member and we would be glad to help you.
We urge everyone to attend we want to update people on a number of important issues in our community.

Pool rules for 2015
As pool season approaches (only 52 days) we wanted to remind the community of our 2015 POOL RULES, although similar to 2014 we ask that you review them again to be familiar with them. They will be displayed prominently around the pool area but we wanted to share them with you long before the pool is operational. Please follow the rules, they will be strictly enforced this season

Neighbors, here are the pool rules for the upcoming pool season. Please follow them and take them seriously. Please treat the pool as you would your own and be courteous to others.
· There is NO LIFEGUARD on duty, pool use is at your own risk
· Police or Emergency Medical Service Phone number 911
· Questions or concerns please call Association Advisors 732-294-8882
· All Federal, State and local laws in addition to the following shall be observed by residents and their guests using the pool.
· Use of this pool is restricted to residents who are in good standing and tenants whose landlords are in good standing with the Island Gate Homeowners Association. Persons without access cards or whose cards do not work are not allowed access to the pool. Please do not allow admittance to the pool.
· A maximum of 6 people may use the pool at any time from each property unit
· Children Under 16 years of age must have adult supervision
· No personal parties shall be held at the pool
· No grills or delivery of food is permitted at the pool
· Glass containers are prohibited in the pool area
· No diving or jumping into the pool
· No running or rough play in the pool area
· Any person showing evidence of any communicable skin disease, sore or inflamed eyes, cold, nasal or ear discharges, or any other communicable disease is denied admission to the pool area
· Any person with excessive sunburn, open blisters, cuts, or bandages shall be denied admission to the pool.
· Do not enter the water if you are experiencing or recovering from diarrhea or have had any signs or symptoms of a gastrointestinal (stomach) disease in the past seven days.
· All people in diapers must wear plastic pants with snug fitting elastic waist and leg bands. Do not wash out soiled diapers in the bathing water.
· Children should be encouraged to use the restroom before entering the water. Immediately report any "accidents" you observe in the bathing waters to Association Advisors.
· No animals, except for service animals, shall be allowed in any parts of the swimming pool area, dressing rooms, or other parts of the pool area.
· All persons must shower before entering the water.
· No one is allowed in the pool area during severe weather, heavy rain, or when thunder or lightning can be seen or heard.
· Persons suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol are prohibited from entering the pool area.
· Conduct which endangers the safety and comfort of others shall be prohibited. Noodles or Personal Flotation Devices may only be used if not creating a nuisance for others. Aggressive behavior will not be tolerated.
· All personal belongings, trash, band-aids, and personal effects shall be removed or put in the proper trash receptacles immediately. Island Gate recycles. Leave no trace you were at the pool, if you drop food pick it up.
· Island Gate Homeowners Association Inc., board of trustees reserves the right to close the pool at any time.
· Violations of these rules will result in the revocation of your pool privileges. All property owners and tenants will be held responsible for the behavior
· AND OF COURSE NO SMOKING OF ANY TYPE AT THE POOL

Community Update
Since the summer season is upon us with pool opening this Saturday we wanted to update you on items impacting the community
Community Meeting
Saturday May 23rd at 10:30 am is our community meeting at the Stafford Town Hall we will discuss the items mentioned in today’s blog post.
Irrigation/Sprinklers
We are having trouble with our irrigation system this spring, there needs to be a total overhaul of the system including pumps. It wil be at least another week before the work is completed. The lack of irrigation combined with the dry spring has combined to make the grass less than optimal. We hope to remedy this situation and get our grass looking green.
Mulch
The colder than normal spring (until a week ago) delayed normal lawn maintenance, we hope to have our landscaper complete the mulch installation by the Memorial Day weekend, if not definitely the week after.
Pool
The pool was resurfaced in the spring. We used an enhanced product called diamond brite, this will make the pool safer, water tight, more attractive and the surface should last longer. Your feedback on the surface the look, feel etc. would be appreciated
Decks
The deck issue has been ongoing for quite a while, we thought we had found a solution for the issue but it didn’t workout , the board is continuing to work on this issue. This is a very large, very expensive undertaking that wasn’t accounted for in our in our replacement funds. We need to be very smart with our spend on this effort. We are also seeking a solution that solves this issue long term. Please bear with us as we work it out. If you have any safety or structural issue with your deck please let us know.
Pool passes
Pool passes are available, up to two per unit are available for $10 each. Please make a check out Island Gate and send it to AA along with a request for a pass. Once that is received we will activate a pass and forward it on to you.
Pool rules
The pool rules for 2015 have been posted on the blog, please follow them and more importantly. Please treat the community and the pool as you would your own. Please be courteous and deferential to our neighbors.
Driving and Parking in the community
Driving and Parking in the community is always our biggest complaint in the summer. As we all know the community fills up in the summer, so please drive slowly in the community. Please be considerate of your neighbors, please stay out of others driveways, please park in the correct direction even if that means turning the car around. Please use the overflow parking lots, please do not park on the grass or Belgian block curbs.
Dryer vent cleaning
The dryer vent cleaning requirement is due this summer, please stay tuned for instructions and guidance on that.
Mechanical devices
Please check all mechanical devices (water heater, air conditioning, filters etc.) for proper performance and repair and or replace if necessary. Please check your devices and change your smoke alarm batteries, please check and change if necessary your CO detectors also.

Pool Scheduled to Open May 16
As always the pool is opening the weekend before Memorial weekend. We open the pool a week early to make sure
everything is working, and approved and inspected a week early so we reduce the
chance for issues the following week.
THE pool has been resurfaced and so far the pool seems to be shaping up
and we are looking forward to another successful summer season. Please
check the blog for pool schedule and rules and as always if you have any
questions or comments please feel free to contact us.
The bad news is the extended forecast for next week has high temps
in the 60’s with a chance of showers. Remember the pool is heated so
hearty souls feel free to take a dip.
Community Meeting Saturday May 23rd
There is an Island Gate community
meeting scheduled for Saturday May 23th at 10:30. It will held in
the Stafford Town hall, by the police station (if you went to the meeting last
year and no one was there please do not go there again) this meeting will
update the community on a number of important issues that directly concern the
community. We urge everyone to attend. We hope you make the effort
to attend the meeting and participate in the community.
