A storm developing over the Tennessee Valley now will move to the coast tonight then move offshore Friday.
Heavy, steady precipitation will overspread the region later this afternoon into tonight. In the Northeast, the main event will be tonight and very early Friday. In Philadelphia, we expect 5-9 inches. The central Jersey shore should expect 6 to 10 inches, in New York City through southern New England the heaviest snow is expected with total accumulations of 10-14 inches and local amounts to 18 inches.
Overnight tonight the wind will pick up along with falling temperatures. This will cause extensive blowing and drifting snow, making the morning commute Friday rather difficult, especially from Northeast Maryland into New England. Winds will remain very gusty tomorrow, along with steady temperatures in the teens, despite a return of sunshine.
Please be safe and stay warm
