Its freezing out and we just had snow last night but its only 108 days until the pool open. We are planning to continue to use the salt system we used last year and want to paint he bathroom floors. If anyone has some suggestions for the pool or would like to be part of the pool committee please contact a board member. It’s cold and nasty right now but the pool will be open before you know it.

Financial highlights as of 12-31-2013
We received our unaudited year end financials from our accountant today. We wanted to share some financial highlights;
Overall it was a good year for Island Gate; we kept up with all our required maintenance and paid our bills even the more expensive insurance bill, tried and succeeded with our new pool filtering system, changed the house lights and removed numerous dead trees in the community. We were also able to save $80,000 for deferred maintenance and reserves for the future, that is a new record for our community. In addition our delinquent owner balances are minimal. We also didn’t pay for any snow removal but that should change this year. Overall pretty good.
If anyone would like to see our unaudited year end financials please feel free to contact AA or our treasurer Ed Fortunato.
In discussion with fellow board members, we have initially outlined some tasks we would like to accomplish in 2014
· Seal driveways
· Possibly seal the streets again
· Replace some trees lost
· Paint pool bathroom floors
· Power wash pool house and pool area
· Hold a community cleanup day on March 29th with a rain date. So save the date
· Plant flowers and shrubs on that date
If you have any thoughts on what can be done to make the community better please let us know, we the board are here to serve the community.
Thanks and best regards
Cold weather coming
Starting the middle of next week, weather forecasters are calling for more record cold weather in our area. The difference between next week and last week’s cold shot is the duration. The coming cold should linger for about 6 days and could bring significant precipitation. There are some forecasts that the cold could be intense enough and last long enough to freeze New York harbor.
Please be safe stay warm and keep you thermostats at 55 degrees or above if you will not be at Island Gate

Happy new year!!! We are getting some snow
A storm developing over the Tennessee Valley now will move to the coast tonight then move offshore Friday.
Heavy, steady precipitation will overspread the region later this afternoon into tonight. In the Northeast, the main event will be tonight and very early Friday. In Philadelphia, we expect 5-9 inches. The central Jersey shore should expect 6 to 10 inches, in New York City through southern New England the heaviest snow is expected with total accumulations of 10-14 inches and local amounts to 18 inches.
Overnight tonight the wind will pick up along with falling temperatures. This will cause extensive blowing and drifting snow, making the morning commute Friday rather difficult, especially from Northeast Maryland into New England. Winds will remain very gusty tomorrow, along with steady temperatures in the teens, despite a return of sunshine.
Please be safe and stay warm
